Beginner
The 5-12 Irish Dance Beginner class focuses on the fundamentals of this exciting art form. Dancers will learn the foundational technique used in soft shoe dances in this fun and energetic class.
With an emphasis on timing, balance, and coordination, dancers begin to understand what sets this dance style apart. Dancers will progress from practicing individual techniques to putting them together in full choreography as skills are refined.
The beginner class strives to ensure that students have a solid base of terminology and technique, all while having a lot of fun in the process.
Intermediate
In the 5-12 Intermediate Irish class, students continue to refine technique in soft shoe dances, but are also introduced to hard shoe fundamentals.
Students will see a change in class pace and effort as choreography becomes more complex, and areas such as stage presence and posture garner more attention with regular competitions occurring.
Dancers will place additional emphasis on strength, flexibility and stamina. At-home-practice becomes an integral part of dancers’ weekly routine.
Students progressing in the intermediate level earn opportunities to compete at higher regional and national levels.
